It is now easier to configure settings for the Access Point (AP) mode to connect THETA to a smartphone, and for the Client (CL) mode to connect THETA to a network.

AP mode connection

The communication information (SSID (network name) and password (encryption key))required for THETA to connect a wireless LAN is displayed as a QR code on the LCD panel of THETA X. Just read this QR code with the camera of an Android or iOS smartphone to complete the AP mode connection settings.

1. Turn ON the power of THETA X

2. Swipe down from the top edge of the LCD panel of THETA to display the camera setting menu.

3. Tap Communication information.

4. The communication information for THETA and a QR code are displayed.

5. Read the displayed QR code containing the SSID with the camera of an Android or iOS smartphone.

6. Tap Connect on the smartphone screen.

CL mode connection

Just read a QR code containing the network communication information with THETA X to complete the CL mode connection settings.

* Some QR codes may not be readable.

Reading a QR codewith THETA X

1. Turn ON the power of THETA X.

2. Swipe down from the top edge of the LCD panel of THETA to display the camera setting menu.

3. Tap Client mode.

4. Tap Add network at the bottom of the screen.

5. The “Add network” screen for reading QR codes is displayed.

6. Read the QR code containing the communication information of the network you want to connect to with THETA X. Point THETA so that the QR code fits within the yellow frame on the LCD panel

QR codes containing the wireless LAN communication information can also be displayed on the smartphone screen. The procedure is as follows.

Using a smartphone to display a QR code containing the wireless LAN communication information

Connect the smartphone to the Wi-Fi network that you want to display as a QR code, and follow the steps below.

◆ Android

  1. Tap [Settings] → [Network & internet] → [Internet].
  2. Nearby Wi-Fi networks are displayed in the “Wi-Fi” list.
  3. Tap the gear icon to the right of the network with “Connected” displayed at the top of the “Wi-Fi” list.
  4. Tap [Share] (QR code icon) at the center of the screen.
  5. The QR code is displayed.

◆ iOS

  1. Tap the iPhone app “Shortcuts.”
  2. Tap [Gallery] at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Enter “wi-fi” in the search bar, and tap the displayed [QR Your Wi-Fi].
  4. Tap [Ad Shortcut].
  5. Tap [Shortcuts]  at the bottom left of the screen to check the added shortcut.
  6. Tap the added shortcut.
  7. Enter the SSID and tap [Done].
  8. Enter the password and tap [Done].
  9. Save the displayed QR code as a screenshot, etc.
