The “LINE Travel jp RICOH THETA Section” Launch Event previously held in September 2018 in Tokyo was held in Umeda, Osaka this time.
We had people who write about trips called navigators from LINE Travel jp gather together at this event to allow them to actually get their hands on THETA and understand how to use the camera during their travels as well as what features THETA has to offer.
On the day of the event, 7 navigators gathered together at Knowledge Capital The Lab Active Studio on the 2nd floor in the North Building of Grand Front Osaka.
After explaining about the aim of the event to the navigators, the organizer swiftly moved on to unboxing THETA and had the navigators get a feel for the camera.
The navigators often use cameras to write their trip report but they were extremely curious about their first contact with a 360-degree camera.
After actually touching the camera, the navigators were given a lecture on how to use THETA from Ricoh staff.
They imagined situations in which they would use THETA on their travels and listened to topics that included shooting methods unique to THETA and how to change camera settings.
They patiently listened as we taught them how to use the app among other things.
After a brief lecture on the basics we moved on to actually shooting photos.
We took photos inside the building in “Grand Front Osaka”, which has an event booth belonging to Knowledge Capital.
Of course, our staff also accompanied the navigators and had a photo session while giving a lecture on how to shoot with THETA and other similar advice.
THETA was very popular in front of the large illumination objects inside the building because photos taken with THETA there looked really nice!
Everyone took a photo with THETA at the same time.
After we had briefly taken some photos, we returned to the event venue and showed everyone how to edit images using the THETA+ image editing app.
The navigators had fun cutting out a part of the 360-degree image they had shot with THETA, changing it to a panorama image, and playing around with various process editing.
With this event as a starting point, we hope that the navigators will use THETA and put it to good use when writing articles about their trips.
We will be working on various initiatives with LINE Travel jp in the near future.
Once again, thank you everyone for attending this event!
