RICOH is expanding global availability of the RICOH360 THETA A1, its 360° camera built for field operations. Already in the hands of field teams through our rental offers, the RICOH360 THETA A1 is now available to purchase on the RICOH360 store, offering even more freedom in how you make it part of your daily work. Fast, tough and connected, it was designed for construction, inspection and facility management teams who document their sites every day. Here is what it changes once you are on site.
On site, documentation doesn't wait
A progress record before the next trade moves in. A plant room inspection between two jobs. A condition survey in the rain, because the client meeting will not be moved. On site, images are evidence, memory and the basis for decisions. They need to be captured fast, they need to be sharp, and they need to reach the people who use them without delay.
Yet field teams are stretched further every year: fewer hands, more sites, ageing assets and tougher working conditions. Their rigour is not the issue. The tool has to keep pace with them, and that is exactly what the RICOH360 THETA A1 was built for.
Ready in 3 seconds: the fastest to start in the RICOH THETA range
The RICOH360 THETA A1 starts in about 3 seconds from power-off, then captures about 0.3 seconds after you press the shutter button. No other camera in the RICOH THETA range starts faster.
On site, that changes how you work. Switch it on as you walk into the room and it is ready before you reach your capture point. No need to leave it running "just in case" between zones, or to wait for it while the rest of the team moves on. Over a walk of dozens of capture points, the seconds saved at every stop add up to minutes, then to site visits wrapped up sooner.
Speed only matters if the camera can take the conditions. That is the RICOH360 THETA A1's second strength.
Dust, splashes, cold: a rugged 360° camera for real-world conditions
The RICOH360 THETA A1 is the first camera in the RICOH THETA range to offer IP64-equivalent protection against dust and splashing water. A dusty site, a sudden shower during an outdoor survey, an industrial workshop: you keep the camera in your hand and carry on. It resists splashes, but it is not designed to be submerged.
It works from −10 °C to 40 °C (14 °F to 104 °F), from a winter survey outdoors to an overheated plant room. On external power, it records reliably for long sessions even between 30 °C and 40 °C. And its battery is removable.
Field tip: fit the TP-2 Lens Protector. On a 360° camera the lenses are exposed by design, and a scratched lens cannot be replaced on its own. The TP-2 is available on the RICOH360 store.

Sharp images first time, even in dark spaces
Stairwells, basements, ceiling voids, plant rooms: the places you need to document are rarely well lit. The RICOH360 THETA A1 applies noise reduction automatically and delivers consistent 360° images in dim indoor spaces, with no complex settings to adjust. Its 11K photos (11,008 × 5,504 pixels) let you zoom in afterwards to read a label, check a joint or note a reference.
Stitching and tilt correction happen in the camera. Photos are saved as JPEG and videos as MP4: standard formats, ready to share or drop into your tools, with no conversion software. For video, it records up to 8K and up to 120 minutes per clip, enough to walk an entire site or follow an inspection without a break.

A sharp image is good. A sharp image that knows where it was taken is better.
Every capture knows where it was taken, and which way it faces
With built-in GPS and an electronic compass, the RICOH360 THETA A1 records location and direction with every image. When you review a survey, you know where each photo was taken and which way it faces, which makes it easier to place on a plan or a map. Location data is at its best outdoors, on large sites and infrastructure.
From site to office, without the detour
A capture is only worth something once it reaches the people who make decisions. With the RICOH360 app, the RICOH360 THETA A1 sends your captures automatically to the RICOH360 cloud as soon as it is back on a known Wi-Fi network, even in Sleep mode. The site manager gets back to the office and the images are already there: the team reviews progress the same day, with no cables and no manual transfers.
Already using construction management software, an inspection tool or an in-house business application? The RICOH360 THETA A1 works with them, so you add 360° imaging to the processes you already have instead of rebuilding them. And if you prefer a standalone camera, it works perfectly well on its own.

Construction, inspection, facility management: who is it for?
- Construction and site monitoring: regular progress records, documented snagging, visual evidence in case of dispute, shared with the office and the client the same day.
- Inspection and maintenance: the condition of equipment, networks and structures, with readable images even in dark areas and a history that is easy to compare from one visit to the next.
- Facility management: remote visibility across an entire building portfolio, fewer trips to check a situation, a visual history of every site.
Buy, rent or go all-in: choose your option
Since 2025, the RICOH360 THETA A1 had only been available for rental. You now have three ways to get it:
