Updating the THETA camera firmware will enable the following items.
・You will be able to use the latest functions.
・It will resolve any issues such as by fixing bugs.
Models released from 2017 (V/Z1/SC2/SC2 for Business and new models after this) can update their firmware from the THETA basic app for computer or smartphone.
The initial model as well as THETA m15/S/SC can only be updated from the THETA basic app for computer.
Users are notified about new firmware version releases in the THETA app or such information is provided from the official THETA SNS account. Be sure to regularly update to the latest version.
<Updating THETA firmware using a computer>
You can update THETA firmware using the basic app for computer.
Download the app from the following website.

Note: Ensure that THETA is sufficiently charged before updating firmware.
Update firmware via PC
1. Start the THETA basic app for computer.
2. Use the included USB cable to connect THETA to a computer.
3. Select [File] – [Update firmware] from the THETA app menu and follow the instructions. *The Windows app is shown here.
4. Check the current version and the update available version, and then select [OK].
5.When “Firmware update: Complete” is displayed, remove the USB cable from the computer.
*For models other than THETA V and Z1, follow the displayed on-screen instructions and then remove the USB cable. Turn off power to the THETA camera and then turn it back on again. The camera firmware will begin to update. When the firmware update is complete, THETA will restart automatically.
<Updating THETA firmware using a smartphone>
You can update THETA firmware using the basic app for smartphone.
THETA basic app is required to update the version. Download the app from the following website.

Note:
・Ensure that THETA is sufficiently charged before updating firmware.
・Models other than those released from 2017 (V/Z1/SC2/SC2 for Business and new models after this) cannot be updated from a smartphone. Please update the firmware for these models from the THETA app for computer.
1. Start the THETA basic app for smartphone and then connect THETA over wireless LAN.
2. After connecting over wireless LAN, tap “X” at the top left of the shooting wait screen in the THETA basic app.

3. Tap the “Settings” icon at the bottom right of the thumbnail screen.
4. Tap “Update firmware”.
5. Follow the displayed on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
*For models other than THETA V and Z1, follow the displayed on-screen instructions and then remove the USB cable. Turn off power to the THETA camera and then turn it back on again. The camera firmware will begin to update. When the firmware update is complete, THETA will restart automatically.
