How to use a remote control

It is possible to remotely operate the shutter on THETA Z1, THETA V and THETA SC2 using a Bluetooth remote control.

The connection method for each model is different. Please see below for the procedure.

Note: After starting the plug-in “REMOTE CONTROL”, the wireless LAN response speed will slow down until the connection with the Bluetooth® device is complete.

Commercially available Bluetooth remote control that has been verified for operation with THETA: JOBY Impulse

<THETA Z1>

1.Update the firmware for the THETA camera to the latest version.

2.“REMOTE CONTROL” is added to the THETA Z1 camera plug-in by updating to the latest firmware.

3.Select the “REMOTE CONTROL” plug-in.

4.Press the shutter button. “TURN ON” is displayed. The remote control icon flashes on the camera display screen and THETA pairing begins.

5.Set the remote control to pairing mode.

6.Wait for a few seconds until THETA emits a sound after it has connected to the remote control. The remote control icon turns on (stops flashing).

7.Press the Mode button and select “Exit Plug-in”. Press the shutter button to exit the plug-in.

8.Press the remote control button to operate the shutter and shoot an image.

Note:
・You can press the remote control button to restore the Z1 camera out of sleep mode. As long as the remote control power remains on, it will maintain the connection with the camera even during sleep mode.

・If power to the Z1 camera is turned off while the remote control is connected, the connection will be lost. However, when the camera is turned on again, the remote control icon will flash and pairing automatically begins if the remote control is turned on.

・If pairing with the remote control does not complete, temporarily exit the pairing mode and then pair the camera and remote control again from step 3.

・Exit the pairing mode by performing steps 3 and 4 while the remote control icon is flashing.
(“TURN OFF” is displayed and the remote control icon disappears from the camera display screen.)

・When canceling the connection with the Bluetooth remote control, perform steps 3 and 4 while the remote control icon is turned on (not flashing).
(“TURN OFF” is displayed and the remote control icon disappears from the camera display screen.)

・When you want to reset the Bluetooth remote control information, press and hold the wireless button and Mode button until the power turns off.

<THETA V>

1.Update the firmware for the THETA camera to the latest version.

2.“REMOTE CONTROL” is added to the THETA V camera plug-in by updating to the latest firmware.

3.Start the “REMOTE CONTROL” plug-in.

4.Turn on the Bluetooth remote control to pair it with THETA. (The THETA camera emits a sound to indicate it has finished connecting to the remote control. The camera status lamp changes from white flashing to white turned on without flashing.)

5.Shoot with the remote control.

Note:
・You can press the remote control button to restore the V camera out of sleep mode. As long as the remote control power remains on, it will maintain the connection with the camera even during sleep mode.

・If power to the V camera is turned off while the remote control is connected, the connection will be lost. However, when the camera is turned on again, the camera status lamp will flash white and pairing automatically begins if the remote control is turned on.

・If pairing with the remote control does not complete, exit the plug-in and then pair the camera and remote control again from step 3.

・When canceling the connection with the Bluetooth remote control, press and hold the Mode button while the camera status lamp is white (not flashing) to exit the plug-in.

・When you want to reset the Bluetooth remote control information, press and hold the wireless button until the power turns off.

<THETA SC2>

1.Press and hold the self-timer button. (The remote control icon flashes.)

2.Turn on the Bluetooth remote control to pair it with THETA. (The THETA camera emits a sound to indicate it has finished connecting to the remote control and the remote control icon turns on.)

3.Shoot with the remote control.

Note:
・If power to the SC2 camera is turned off while the remote control is connected, the connection will be lost. However, when the camera is turned on again, the remote control icon will flash and pairing automatically begins if the remote control is turned on.

・If pairing with the remote control does not complete, exit the remote control function and then pair the camera and remote control again from step 1.

・When canceling the connection with the Bluetooth remote control, press and hold the self-timer button to exit the remote control function.

・When you want to reset the Bluetooth remote control information, press and hold the wireless button and Mode button until the power turns off.
